How long does it take to get lab results from Northwell? ›

Laboratory results

Lab results can be received by phone, email, mail, fax, or in person four days after your lab work has been completed.

There are a few ways to book an appointment with a Northwell Health provider—via Northwell.edu, the Northwell Health app or by calling (888) 321-DOCS, option 1.

Laboratory services

Still, many patients may not schedule needed blood work despite having a prescription*. That's why Northwell Health Labs, the largest hospital-based lab in the region, developed a solution—LabFly, an innovative mobile app that helps patients easily and safely schedule a blood draw.

Your results may be delayed if the sample is inadequate (not enough blood), contaminated, or if the blood cells were destroyed for some reason before reaching the lab.

Blood test results can take several minutes to several weeks, depending on the test. It is common to wait a day or two for most results to come back. A person should talk to their doctor or lab about what to expect regarding their test results.

There are many different types of blood test that look for different things in your blood. If your blood test results are not in normal levels, it gives doctors a good indication of how to treat you or prevent problems occurring in the future.

Getting your results

Most test results are available within 2-5 days of collection. Yet some complex testing may take 14 days or more. Quest sends completed test results directly to the ordering doctor for review. Results will also be available in your MyQuest account as tests are completed.

Processing and Results

Depending on the complexity of the test being performed, it could take a few hours or as long as several days before your results are reported to your doctor. You may access your lab results in the Labcorp patient portal after they have been reported to your doctor.
